Recently, I earned my PhD in Cancer Biology.
I have been in academic research since 2000. Unfortunately, in my young and humble opinion, scientific research has become slightly detached from its original goals and the objectives have been, in many instances, blurred. I feel that the gap between scientific research and society is only growing wider.
Therefore, I wanted to try an outside-the-box approach to close this gap. In fact, one of my future goals is to start an organization that focuses on bridging the gap between the scientific academic research community and the general public.
Since there are virtually unlimited number of ways to bridge this gap, I started this website to help me identify specific approaches where I can focus my efforts to provide the most significant impact.

Academia and Research
In these categories, we will cover topics related to the academic research environment as well as highlighting some of the complexities and caveats that are involved in conducting scientific research. Since “scientific research” can be a pretty vague term to the general public, blog entries in these categories will hopefully provide behind-the-scene preview of scientific research to the general public.
Careers
Alternative careers in science help in closing the gap between science and society since people trained in scientific thinking and research apply their skills in fields unrelated to science, and thus spreading the “scientific method” in non-science fields.
Close the Gap
This category will include tips and methods through which scientists and institutions can extend and expand their influence to reach the general public. Here, we will also highlight examples of successful programs that aim to “close the gap”.
Policy
Science policy often shapes how research is carried out. The awareness and involvement of scientists in shaping science policy is very important. Articles in this category will highlight relevant and important topics related to science policy.
Science Education
Articles in this category will cover a variety of topics, such as improving science literacy in our schools, reaching and educating adults about science, and enhancing the experiences of science undergraduate and graduate students.
